Orfeo has been allowed to bring back his wife from Hades as long as he does not look upon her face until they are back on earth. However, urged by Euridice, he turns around and looks at her and she immediately dies. Grief-stricken, he wonders what he will ever do without his love.
Che farò senza Euridice? Dove andrò senza il mio ben? Euridice, o Dio, rispondi! Io son pure il tuo fedele.
Euridice! Ah, non m´avanza più soccorso, più speranza ne dal mondo, ne dal ciel.
Translation
What will I do without Euridice? Where will I go without my beloved? Euridice, oh God, answer me! Yet I still belong to you faithfully.
Euridice! Ah, no help comes to me anymore, No hope anymore, Neither from this world, nor from heaven.

"e" in Italian can be both open (è) like in "let" and closed (é). Bène has an open "e". BTW most of the Italians mispronounce the "è" and the "o" depending on the region they come from. As for Euridice it seems to me that Mrs Horne pronounces it correctly.
in fact, now Countertenors are good Falsetists. Most of them could be baritones singing in their " natural voice". you can see that very clear in theyr speaking voices....
@oldcrowr I stand corrected! I am only 1/2 Italian :-) My mom was 100%
Anyway most of the ben's are pronounced correctly. Just the last 3 three does she change how she sings them. They are the higher ones. Typically a lot of singers will change the vowel sounds to make the sound prettier.
@oldcrowr Maybe I need a pronunciation lesson! So doesn't the "e" sound like the English "ay"? Can you point me to a place where I can learn how to properly pronounce the vowels?
