This is my own spontaneous arrangement of the popular hymn adaptation of the "Prayer of St Francis of Assisi". The actual origin of the prayer can only be traced back to the early 20th century and has only later come to be ascribed to St Francis.
This video is an experiment on several levels. New camera positions tend to affect the sound as much as the visuals... I have yet to decide whether this is a camera angle I will re-use, but it's probably provides a more interesting visual than my usual "hands and piano" view!
Aside from that, it's the first hymn adaptation I've posted. Like all my other selections, it was chosen primarily for its melodic and musical qualities, but in this case the lyrics themselves also hold some deeper appeal.
***
Make me a channel of your peace,
Where there is hatred let me bring your love,
Where there is injury your pardon Lord,
And where there's doubt true faith in you.
O Master grant that I may never seek,
So much to be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love with all my soul.
Make me a channel of your peace,
Where there's despair in life, let me bring hope,
Where there is darkness, only light,
And where there's sadness, ever joy.
O Master grant that I may never seek,
So much to be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love with all my soul.
Make me a channel of your peace,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
In giving to all men that we receive
And in dying that we are born to eternal life.
O Master grant that I may never seek,
So much to be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love with all my soul.
Good singing!
