  • My Dad, who will be 94 this month, was the purser and the only medical man on the USS Lone Jack that took airplane fuel from Lake Charles, Louisiana, to England. He saw ships blow up in front of his ship and behind his ship, and that was in the Gulf of Mexico!!!! He said "Once we got around the tip of Florida, we felt like we were safe!!!!" The Roosevelt administration HID the ships that were sunk within sight of the US by uboats!!!!!
