The ancient city of Varanasi (Banaras) India was once called "Forest of Bliss". As the city grew the beautiful forest was removed. Sonoma Ashram in California and Balashram in India under the loving guidance of Baba Harihar Ramji are working to create an EcoVillage and Green Belt along the sacred Ganga (Ganges) River.
Sonoma Ashram's service project in India is Bal Ashram, a home for abandoned and orphaned children in Varanasi, India. Bal Ashram is also the home for Amrit Sagar — an Ecovillage and Ecology Education Center. Amrit Sagar provides education and support for sustainable agriculture and cultivation of endangered Ayurvedic herbs and plants. www.sonomaashram.org

  • A wonderful and inspiring video. thanks for posting!

  • Wonderful video! The Ashram is doing great work in the US and in India.

  • I visited the Ecovilliage location last month and shot some video there with Babaji. This is truly a remarkable project! The potential for Varanasi (Banaras) and for India is tremendous.
