The only other zombie picture I can enjoy seeing more than once (most of them I avoid altogether) is "I Walked With A Zombie." "White Zombie" was rarely shown on TV, but I saw it as a very young teen and it scared me...yet I didn't have nightmares as my older sister did years earlier, when a family friend showed movies at her birthday party, and one of them was "about zombies" according to our mom. I suspect it was this one!
Anyway, a good review. I quite agree with your conclusions.
i think that the techology before was better than the one we have today, it was so realistic and real, thats why i often prefer horror movies from the past.
Nice review. I think White Zombie is so under rated and that it's right up there Dracula and Frankesntein.
Good take on the way horror films today compare to horror films of yesteryear. I definately prefer atmosphere and mood over shock and gore.
