Ah, now I remember! There was a time when American's thought greed and selfishness were a horrible and anti-social action. Now we celebrate it on "Reality TV". We literally teach kids nowadays to think only of themselves and what they want. It explains a lot about what I see on a daily basis now.

Anyone else consider that Stanley had to be the duck to survive because Dick Van Dyke knew Stanley Laurel personally?

Did anyone watch channel 10 from London, Ontario in 1973, '74, or '75 ? It was one of those years when channel 10 said "A very funny show coming up." They showed an episode of Dick VanDyke where he throws a pillow. I remember that part. It was on at 5:30 p.m. Eastern time. Out of 158 episodes, that was the only good one. But I didn't watch the rest of it because Laurel and Hardy was on channel 9 at the same time. 9 is from Windsor, Ontario.

No TV like this anymore, because Carl Reiner is not Writing, and Producing, He had a wonderful,Cast, but he was the soul of the show. Imagine Any show on TV today that would have a entire show about "Selfish Love" Oh Mr.Reiner, I miss your wisdome so very much!

I love this scene!!! A real touching moment between Rob and Richie. I remember loving a pet as a child and experiencing that first heart-wrenching loss.

I remember this bringing me to tears when I saw this as a kid. TV shows don't have the same kind of humor and heart as they did in the day of Dick Van Dyke. Maybe if shows were more like this, our kids wouldn't be growing up so fast these days.
Dick has such an amazing smile!

That was a beautiful speech about 'selfish love.' So much better writing than nowadays when they beat you over the head with PC propaganda speeches.
