I hate automatics.

@MrKaran747 there's a reason for that my friend.In order to handle that extra horsepower, the designers would have to do some more modifications to the clutch assembly in the tranny.
Besides an automatic miata is like riding around with training wheels when your 20 years old...it sucks.

Pairing an automatic with a small little four banger really kills the performance and mileage. The 6 speed of this car is GREAT, in my opinion one of the best transmissions on a car. The manual would go like 2 seconds faster to 60 Than this

i just took delivery (last wednesday) of a 2010 nc prht with 6 speed manual, and i can assure you that the acceleration is far from pathetic! compared to a gallardo or something, yes, i would say the mazda is lacking, but the gallardo costs heaps more, so its a pointless exercise. labelling an auto nc as pathetic is retarded. who buys an auto miata/mx5 anyway? they are built to be driven and have the best manual gearbox of any car on the road today, and they handle like a go-kart.

Some cars are suited to automatics. Maybe this one isn't (?)

Automatic Miata is a redundant term lol. Its like a veggie burger with bacon.

@armonix Exactly!

The very thought of driving an automatic chills me. To be detached from becoming a part of the car seems boring to me. With a manual, I feel part of the car, the operation of gears, clutch and gas complete the connection for me at least.
I'm in the belief that driving a manual makes a more attentive driver watching out for trouble ahead, whilst someone driving an automatic can take up other activities within the car that should be left at home.

@ObsessiveDesires Why the hell are you being an asshole to everyone who disagrees with your opinion? Be a man, and stop being so rude and disrespectful, and accept defeat every once in a while. I drive a 2007 Toyota Yaris with a 1.5L I4, 108 bhp, 4-speed AT, and a curb weight of approximately 2100 lbs., and I can do a 0-60 as fast as this video. You are clearly not a talented driver.
And hillbillies don't clean toilets - they distill moonshine and play bluegrass, you thick-headed dipshit.

seriously listen too yourself, i am saying that it is better to shift gear with a manual because it takes a better driver to utilize the gear box learn gear ratio andf have better clutch control, to use your words 'higher driving experience' your argument is about how autos are better, but they shift automatically which the driver does not have to do any thing, so wheres the 'higher driving experience' and besides i never mentioned any thing about ferrari's lol
Mate, it's an automatic of course it is slow. Autospastics are terrible in any car. It's an MX5 it is made for real driving with a manual gearbox! A driver of 225lbs is going to hugely impact the speed as well. I have driven a bunch of MX5's NA-NC/ 1.6-2.0L and all of them are hugely faster than this video would lead you to believe. MX5's have no problem reaching the 0-60 times that MT/MW/Edmunds/CD etc. claim. Besides the car is made for driving not boring drag strips or oval circuits.

also the automatic version come with 158 hp and the manual is with 167hp, so in this case, the automatic version of this car has less power than the manual.
