@Atanalek : I dunno... While both Primus and NoMeansNo both have some heavy prog-rock influences, it's hard to compare playing styles between L. Claypool and Rob Wright. With typical Canadian modesty, Wright doesn't consider himself to be that great of a bass player (!!!); to paraphrase, "I play with a pick. People only think my playing is interesting 'cos I insist the bass amp gets turned up as loud as the guitar."

reminds me of minutemen :D

@Atanalek I've seen Primus and Nomeansno live, both amazing performances. The best part is moshing to the bands, because it's like moshing to jazz. It's hilarious and fun. Everyone has a good time, and that's all that matters.

@Viniciopunk That's a cover. Cake does a cover of War Pigs by Black Sabbath. Does that mean they have metal background?

i jump to this

@minmisaloser no jazz background? Search for Nomeansno - Bitches Brew
-
@Atanalek I don't feel any jazz background with Nomeansno. I agree that all bands are good and deserve respect. But Rob Wright's Epic basslines on pretty much any Nomeansno song cures aids.

Do yourself a favour and go see them live. First saw them in '95...last saw them in 2010. Still amazing!!

@1YinYang1 Primus and Nomeansno take similar approach to music since both are heavy bass driven with strong funk/jazz style of play. Though the Nomeansno keeps punk background where Primus takes more alternative rock, metal kinda background. Nomeansno has been playing longer than Primus but still. Saying any of their work resemble to each other is like saying Beatles resembled early Stones. It's pretty much similar but only because of style. Though all four bands are good.
