  • @plectrum63 I don't think his songs are too similar sounding - they may all follow a general pattern or scheme, but they're no different to two Katy Perry songs sounding very similar to each other. A lot of his music has an Indian influence and follow the structure of some raga. Finally, why don't you post a couple of videos showcasing your talents and we can judge who can play better ;)

  • Very wise words @plectrum63. Great to read. Cheers.

  • @plectrum63 He's not a 'virtuoso' IMO - he's transmitting beauty and a deeper state of consciousness rather than trying to amaze people with blazing technique. That said, I think his technique is still remarkable.

  • Don't you think that all his songs sound very similar to each other - and mostly sound Indian or very celtic at least? I have tried to start appreciating his music as he is being hailed as a virtuoso but I fail to understand why such hype - I am no virtuoso and not even known anywhere - but I think I can play better!!

  • Nope, not even close to being better then Basho. The difference is actually huge, Blackshaw will be considered a great soon, but right now he is borrowing a whole lot from his inspirations. He needs to develop his own voice, much like Basho did 40 years ago.

  • No he's not! He's good but Robbie Basho was a God.

  • much better than Basho.

  • He's better than Basho.

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs that I have ever heard. He's up there with Robbie Basho
