Using an IR led array and some reflective tape, you can track fingers in thin air using the Wii Remote by Johnny Chung Lee, Carnegie Mellon University. I am so glad I randomly found your video on TED! I may not be able to do something like this yet, but this is certainly inspiring! I hope you keep finding out more cool options for uses of the IR tracking and such.
In TED, the site showed you with a room and glasses that allowed the room to move in response to your movements. That looked so perfectly 3D, without the glasses, that it was just amazing! Truly, the best 3D I've seen so far.

Actually, resa69, we do. Infrared is also known as "heat". So as long as you have body heat, you "emit infrared light". Hence why he said "not much". For this type of tracking you need a higher level of IR at a pinpoint location to distinguish things easier.
