Demonstration of an electric wheelchair under control of an Emotiv EEG/EMG headset. The control system developed by Cuitech, detects when the user winks or smiles, and translates these signals into commands to control the wheelchair.

  • what happens when they tell you a very funny joke when your in front of traffic :)

  • Its seems to work with muscular artifacts, you cant control it over 9000 times better with any muscle ...

  • Its seems to work with muscular artifacts, you cant control it over 9000 times better with your tongue

  • @dubrox this is better contained than a webcam and everything else you need. and this can do more than just read face gestures. they are just the easiest things to do rather than imagine the wheelchair moving

  • Does the chair wtfpwn you when you get angry?

  • If you just use the face gestures, you could have used a webcam to recognize those gestures. It would be better to simply command the wheelchair with the thoughts.

  • what about the self-destruct trigger?

  • This is cool. I'm going to use Emotiv's Cognitiv suite for control of a mobile robot using the different thought options like rotate, push, pull, etc. Making a thesis out of it.

  • A noble initiative indeed. Wicked awesome! Can they theoretically make one that can fly? If so, where can I get one? This kind of control could ideally be applied to all electronics and household appliances. Maybe even a few sets of mind-controlled helper arms. Think about it, that could revolutionize multitasking! I would be all over that!
