The Falkirk Falls Management Project began in March 2002 as a joint initiative between colleagues in Forth Valley Acute Trusts ReACH (Rehabilitation and Assessment in the Community and at Home), Day Hospital and Fastrack Services and Falkirk Councils Social Work Services Mobile Emergency Care Service (MECS) who shared a concern about older people who experienced falls at home. The Joint Working Team involved in the project included MECS staff, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nursing staff, general practitioners and hospital consultants. The Project aimed to use the joint resources available to attempt to reduce the number of falls being experienced by people in their homes and provide early and appropriate education, intervention and holistic assessment.
