I am driving down the road at 30 mph at 1030 at night with my daughter and 2 of her friends in the car when suddenly my Airbag deploys for NO REASON at all. Ford is saying that everything operated normally and that the impact sensors registered a collision and deployed the bag. When asked what would have happened if it occurred at 70mph in highway traffic and would have killed someone they say "Well that didn't happen" They also say I am on the hook to pay for EVERYTHING, that NOTHING is covered under warranty and that they will be LEAVING THE SENSORS AND SAFETY MODULE IN THE CAR!! Mrs Alma Taylor in Fords legal dept says she doesnt care that the car doesn't look like it had an impact, that if the sensors say it did, then it did and Ford isn't liable, even though her own employees state its OBVIOUS nothing ever hit the car. Ford insists that I need to file a claim with my insurance company, which has now looked at the car and because the car hasnt been in any type of accident, they claim that it is a mechanical malfunction and will not cover it at all.

The airbag deployment occurred on the night of November 6th 2009 and the car was brought to Crossroads Ford in Cary NC the very next day at 8am. I was finally notified that nothing would be covered by Ford legal Dept on January 15th 2010

  • obviously there is more to this story...seriously folks...

  • @COLT45keith Dont know what you mean by this??? I still own the car, ford never did a single thing to help me at all except keep my car for 4 months, stone walled me, and finally charged me over 3 grand to replace all the stuff that was damaged in the airbag deployment. Not much more to the story than that!!

  • @bniersbach why doesnt it have a gt hood?...thats kinda odd...

if ford says it has nothing wrong then its a road hazard and your insurance pays it. who would hand over 3000 dollars if they have insurance and warranty...you could have hit something with just a tire...and why is the front bags not deployed? your leaving out quite a bit to this story...

  • @COLT45keith The car is a GT/CS (Cali Special) and the hood scoop is a 300 dollar option that I didnt want, so it looks like a normal hood and I removed all the CS badging

Your insurance company will not pay for something if there is no apparent damage, as they insisted it was a Manufactures defect. Ford said the airbags acted normally. I hired a lawyer and fought with Ford for 4 months but soon my legal fee's were as much as the repair. I was also interviewed by local news

  • @bniersbach but the station manager wouldnt air the show unless I was able to find more cars that this has happened to. Ford wouldnt fix it, as then they would be admitting fault, and if any of the 3 kids in the car said they were hurt then Ford would be responsible for it or any other airbag deployments in thier cars.

  • @bniersbach Why would I lie about it?? I still own the car and absolutely HATE ford for leaving me hanging so I leave this video up in case someone else has this happen. I am just the little guy who got run over by the big machine. The video was shot when I was first denied by Ford and before the news interview...I wanted people to see it, including Ford, so they knew they couldnt just run me over with no consequences. I wish the video was seen by every potential customer they ever have

  • @bniersbach Why the front bag isnt deployed also points to a manufacturers defect?? Thats what I have been saying for 3 years. Like you said, I had insurance and a warranty, yet I was still completely hosed, which is exactly why I have never removed this video. The cost to ford to fix my car would have been completely insignificant to them yet they completely refused. I was making payments on a car I couldnt drive and paying a lawyer so I had to fix it and they knew it and now you do too

  • Hi, I am licensed Mechanic in Ontario Canada and I used to work for Ford Canada. Ford should be held criminally liable for this. I just got a customer in today that had the same thing happen to them, but luckily in a parking lot at 5mph. Both front airbags deployed on a 2001 mustang 3.8 convertible. I think there is more than just one sensor in this model so the only thing that could deploy it is a computer malfunction or all sensors are bad. I would call your local newspaper.

  • Sounds like you had a faulty airbag sensor.

  • Well this is odd. My Mom and Grandma were driving a 2007 Buick with front and side airbags when they were t-boned by a car going 45-50 mph..... NONE of the airbags in my moms car deployed.
