The most important thing about mounted-saber fight is the mastery in riding. The rider should be able to stand up on stirrup during the fight. İf it is a real fight, you should think the possibility of loosing your horse. The rider only can prevetn it by keeping the distance. the basic of the fight is to hit before the enemy

surely with the ottomons being amongst the most skilled mounted calvary in the world would just pick him off from afar?

it was soo cool. It wasnt a competition so we had loads of time to try things out and practice. Sabre training was one of the highlights for me. A famous swordmaster came and gave us lessons. Then we trained with these soft sabres, it is the best idea ever, the horses wont get hurt either..

@gokmenpasha Who was that swordmaster?

@jbujko It was 'Andrzej Kalinski'. We stayed at the same place so I had the chance to ask him many questions about Ottoman sabres as well. It was very informative.
But also 2 guys called Darek and Radek came, they were very impressive on horseback with sword and lance. They showed us demonstration.
