This is a fackin' beatmix song. I made half in MIDI with Rosegarden and my SB Live soundcard synth, and the other half with OpenMPT with some voice and drum samples.

To make the song I didn't, but I did for the video.

The first half of the song was made in MIDI with Rosegarden. I then recorded the MIDI and loaded it into MPT and set the tempo to match, looped a certain part of the MIDI recording, and put the voice and drum samples on top.

To make the video, I synced Rosegarden and MPT, but I muted the MIDI. So while Rosegarden is used to display the MIDI notes, all the sound is actually coming from MPT.
