I only got to play this once, in Chicago, back in 1994. It was awesome. I remember staying with my step-brother in '98 for the summer and he lived near North Pier, and was sad that it wasn't around anymore. I wish they still had something like that.

@VirtualWorldLLC a P90! i remember when that was the latest thing! XD

Ahhhhh long gone are the days where I had to choose between buying groceries, paying the rent and playing Battletech and Red Planet at the Virtual World Center... I could never feed my landlord, but gawd was I ever good at this game ;p

I hate the fact that I was simply born too late to experience BattleTech. By the time I found out about it, FASA was about to die. I dream of the day that a new-gen Tesla pod is created, using less-proprietary systems and perhaps running MechWarrior Living Legends, which I understand has a lot of stuff under the hood that isn't used right now, which could definitely be used for sims. Hell, eventually it'll have ammo dumping and crits.

I really wish Tesla pods weren't so close to extinction. I hear the Tesla Is had a lot more simulated things, like fire extinguishing and ammo crits. Also, when I was in kindergarten, there was a book about video games that showed old, now-extinct Tesla pods, ROWS of them, in a Virtual World center. I should find an excuse to go to that school and peruse those pages again.
The pods are aging, and there's simply nothing left to replace them...

I use to play this at LAZERPARK in NYC's Times Square. IT RULED! Long live 2600!

Aaargh! She is so annoying. The wording of this tutorial is annoying. I purchased a field manual or brochure of some sort for this sim off of FASA's Web store before they closed down permanently. The graphics and HUD in this sime look strikingly similar to the PC and Mac versions, especially MechWarrior 4's. I always wanted to go to Virtual World, but never got the chance.

Thats because it was designed and made by the same people. The graphics on this system was far beyond anything available for home users in 1994. The video board was about $7000.00 and ran on a P90.
