(Sacramento) - Assistant Speaker pro Tempore Isadore Hall, III (D-Compton) stood at the Capitol steps, with his fellow legislators including Speaker Karen Bass and Speaker-elect John Pérez to publicly condemn a racially offensive student event hosted this past weekend by students of the University of California, San Diego. The event called the, Compton Cookout was organized by members of various Greek fraternal organizations and encouraged participants to mock Black History Month by promoting negative and offensive racial and gender stereotypes. Assemblymember Hall says university officials should investigate the organizers of the event and determine what sanctions, including suspension, should be taken against the fraternity or fraternities responsible for the event. Heres more in this Assembly Access video.

  • Sound like a bunch of racist white assholes to me, but then, why should be be surprised? Don't hate us because every white girl (including your mothers, and sisters) long for the experience of sleeping with a black man, while white boys wish they could have some black coochie but can't measure up.

  • When I was a young black child, I said axed, too. Turns out that old English pronounced it that way, too. Linguists say its a survival, that way of speaking. Whatever his accent, Isadore is one good looking smart cookie and I'm glad he's willing to be a public servant. You go, Isadore!

  • Male guests were "axed" to ... Again, male guests were "axed" to ... thanks for proving my point!

  • He can't even read. Must be from Compton!

  • Isadore Hall! Is the best!

He's such a cool & down to earth man!

    I really like him!

  • LOL...hey "Assembly Member" Isadore - maybe you should learn to say ASK, a one syllable word & there would be fewer "stereotypes"

  • This wasn't organized by a student. It was organized by an African American Comedian. That has been made clear. Why haven't people corrected the story?

For the details on what happened you can go to the comptoncookout web site.

  • "we will not accept hate here in this state!"

    hey, that rhymes!!
