Zelda 2 Challenge: The Shadow of Link - Part 4 - Onward to Dungeon 2!

Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link was widely considered the black sheep of the Zelda family, but I always found it very underrated. It is also considered the hardest Zelda game of all time, and for good reason. It made #9 on GameTrailers' Top 10 Hardest Games list.

But this ROM Hack takes the game's difficulty to a new level, possibly raising it to the standard of Battletoads, which was voted #1 on said list. Hell, those dreaded eyeballs show up right at the beginning of the game.

What's changed in this hack? Items have been rearranged (like the hammer and the power glove), more obstacles, tougher enemies earlier on, you get the drift. In fact, sometimes in the overworld it's actually more favorable to face a strong enemy group rather than a weak one.

Part 3 covers most of Dungeon 2.

I saw a post on Gamepro about this hack. They said that if you input a game genie code to walk across mountains, you'll see that the hack wasn't finished, and they put a water next to the entry points until they completed the hack. Looks like they never got around to it. I tried it and its true, but you still can't win because the warlock palace is impossible to beat with the warlock being too low with that new crappy bridge so you can't reflect the beams. The rest of the items are normal.

I'm at the same place, and very frustrated after getting stuck next to the water after exiting death mountain. The only other thing I can think of is that they either didn't finish the hack or, that there is a hidden town in the trees of a forest somewhere that needs to be cut down. Do you want to try and get back to me? I will go ahead and start.
