@marinasvetaeva01
if you don't like this stuff, why are you listening to it? Why bother telling lovers of good music how much you hate it? You'll only get angry replies.

Nice footage of Keith playing a Firebird VII. I recall seeing a photo somewhere that had both him and Brian playing matching Firebirds in it. Too cool!

I saw them in 1965 in Melbourne & was surprised to see that Brian played most/nearly all of their catchy hook lead riff themes like in this tune. Check out their hands while they mime here, Brian's fingering the riff while Keith plays rhythm. Keith played rhythm & took the "solos" & Brian played many memorable hooks.

Was'nt Keith the better singer? Those early songs were for the stage and Bill and Keith were needed for back vocals. Playing riffs and doing vocals is the harder job. Though they mimed for TV, they may have done like they did on stage. Guess Brian was the real creative riff player, and so they appointed Mick Taylor as Brian's successor. Mind, he was a riff player as well.
It is said that during Brian's decline Keith became very directive in the music, monitoring even Bill's part and Ian's.

Hi levensregt. You've got me on whether Keith was the better singer? I don't remember him singing back then & haven't heard anyone flatter his vocals. The girls screams drowned most everything! Don't think the amps were mic'd. Only two Vox AC30's & a Vox T60 for bass to play for 2,500 mostly screaming girls. I felt I should lend them my 60 watt Goldentone amp to help out... ...ha. Great night though & Brians contributions were a pleasant surprise. Cheers

Also... ...Yes I'm sure they were miming basically what they did on a live show. [you probably know, but] Everyone mimed on TV back in the day because TV stations had inadequate audio facilities to get a good band sound (mixer channels, mics, engineers accustomed to mixing bands etc.) not so much for the reasons some mime today. Cheers.

Hi Rob. I really believe Keith and Bill did most backing vocals by that time. They did not sound very professional but provided chorus when Mick needed it. It occurs to me that Brian had a rough and raspy voice. Check out the backing vocals on Walking the Dog, we hear Brian there. Keith' voice detoriated during his addict years but today he has a vocal chorus and electronics that permit him to sing lead now and then.
