Her Only Hope Chapter 13 part 1(hey Baby Cover )

When Nick finally woke up later that day, he threw on a simple V-neck tee shirt and a pair of blue jeans. He heard commotion coming from downstairs and looked at his alarm clock which read 11:27 AM. His eyes widened and he rushed out of his room and down the stairs. He gasped when he saw Emma sitting on the couch in tears and a police officer kneeling in front of her asking her questions.

"Nicholas!" His mother called with a soft smile on her face. "I need you to go sit with Emma. She won't speak to Officer Dan." Nick furrowed his brows but nodded anyways. He swiftly made his way over to the couch and Emma looked up at him with her big brown eyes and attempted to smile. Nick sat beside her and shook Officer Dan's hand. Emma climbed into Nick's lap and hugged him around his neck.

"Emma, it's okay. Policemen are good guys. I promise." Nick said softly to her. She only sniffled and hid her face in his neck. He sighed and looked over at Joe and Kevin who had just walked down the stairs. They looked around in confusion, and spoke to their father who was trying to explain the new plans to the security guards. Frankie walked over and sat beside Nick.

"It's okay Emma. He's gonna help you." Frankie said. Emma looked over at Frankie, then to the police officer. She nodded before turning around in Nick's lap to face Officer Dan.

"Are you ready to talk Emma?" He asked.

"Uh-huh." She said softly. Nick held Emma's hands as she told the officer all about the man who had tortured her for years.

"Well I think I've got enough info. I'll keep a look out, and tell all the guys at the station to be on guard. He's already wanted for the murder of Emma's mother, child abuse, and braking out of prison. Once we catch him, he'll be locked up for a very long time." The police officer smiled at the three youngest Jonas children before standing up and joining the adults across the room.

"See Emma, that wasn't so hard." Frankie smiled at her. She nodded at him and watched him run up the stairs. Nick noticed how quiet she was and lifted her up so she was standing in front of him.

"What's wrong Emmy?" He asked softly.

"What does murder mean?" she asked thoughtfully
