Looks like you need a remote for your Revox 2 track and an auto-locator....Too much walking! :)

@tapewolf So does the sound that is heared in the video actually come out of the headphones? Man, you must be deaf! ;-)
-
@wado1942 ok thats the new rule... : )

No, I have the ability to listen to what I'm doing. You have to control the level comming into the mixer through the input trims to avoid distortion. Believe me, the sound will be worlds better if it PEAKS at around +6 to +9 on the buss peak meters when you're mixing.

At the end, He ran out to do a huge blast of coke!
I am envious of you Tapewolf. I am mixing old school, but using an Otari Radar II. No computer screens no editing software. Would like to get an MX5050 but that TSR-8 looks pretty sweet!! Keep it alive, where do you get your tape ATR?

I'm using RMGI SM911 mostly, some Zonal 700 and some new-old-stock Quantegy 406 which I managed to get a good deal on (£60 for seven reels of 1/2").
ATR is horrifically expensive (£97/reel) and doesn't have many resellers here. RMGI has a few quirks but works for me and is about half as much.
Zonal are still making 1/4" stock but it's only available in the UK I believe.

Typo - that was £60 for 14 reels (two boxes of 7!)

You mix in headphones?
Chadfish 2 years ago
Yes. Monitoring on speakers would require all kinds of jiggery-pokery to minimise the room sound, which I don't really have space for in this house :-S

That looks like a Watkins Copicat under your mixing desk there! Is she working alright? Bless those little echo machines!

It is indeed. Slightly beaten up, I'm afraid, but pretty much indispensable. Nearly all the vocals are going through it these days.
