I love this look. I do notice a little smearing of the ink when I do a light wash when the ink is from a gel pen, so I prefer ball point pens. Partially covering the shell rather than coloring the entire inside as you did is especially pleasing for some reason. I even like to spill outside the lines a little the way a child might do it. To me, that can be beautiful.

Crosshatching works great with a nib pen and indian ink.
