Not a warmonger? He was only the top General in World War II, that's all. And who do you think did more to escalate the Cold War with the Soviet Union than any other President? The nuclear arsenal really became an arsenal under Eisenhower and the technology and state of readiness of our conventional forces advanced more rapidly under his tenure than any other President. The rest of the world was still recovering from WW2 so why would troops need to be sent anywhere?

@OatSharpener Actually even REagan was not as much like the Reagan they idealize him as. Eisenhower was the only GOP-er who had wisdom, was not a warmonger, and had no ties to the Religious Wrong. DDE would also not have ignored the onset of AIDS and he did not nearly triple the national debt.

Unequalled economic growth,revenues to the gov't at all time highs,inflation beaten down,interest rates from the cater years of 20+ % hammered down.He stood toe to toe with the Communists and they blinked.The black middle class was the fastest growing economic group under Reagan.And if you had any understanding of how the system work the House and Senate not the present is in charge of spending Dems controlled both.
