Golan residents reflect on Israeli-Syrian talks - 22 May 08

Israel's prime minister says he's ready to make what he calls "difficult concessions" to Syria.

The revelation that Syria and Israel have been in secret talks for a year, has renewed hopes for a return of the Golan heights to Syria.

Al Jazeera's Alan Fisher has been to visit those who have lived in the disputed area since it was occupied in 1967.

@ismaelhaniya how did they punish the israelis .it's right that they launched the war WITH SYRIA and few arab countries but once they crossed the canal they betrayed syria they made a truce while the syrians were still fighting

and they sold out the palestinians egypt was the first country made peace with "israel"now the arabs followed her and the palestinians alone are week against israel

@ismaelhaniya Of course - the Arabs never EVER attacked Israel... Jordan didn't illegally occupy West Bank for nineteen years (of course, the Palestinians didn't care, only until the Jews captured it in a preemptive strike of self defense). Egypt held the Gaza strip illegally (it was for the Palestinians). Israel has given back the Sinai to the Egyptians more than once as a concession for peace! The Golan, if Syria ever had it again, Gd forbid, would have a strategic advantage over Israel.
