I don't think that there was anything that Mollie was afraid to do to make us laugh. That's why I loved her so much. She seemed so down to earth and had a great sense of fun.

and despite the hair stylist's best efforts, the result was MULTI-COLORED hair, and after a hard day working recording AYBS, she would jump into her car, and pick up her twin sons, who were young, then, and ever so embarrassed to have a mother seen by their peers with MULTI-COLOR hair. After the show was clearly a success, and they felt they could give it more budget, they let her have WIGS of different colors.
The idea about different colored hair was HERS. To make the character more interesting. In the EARLY days of AYBS, before they knew if it would fly, or not, she had to DYE her hair, different colors, every week,
I actually created this video over a year ago when Mollie Sugden was still alive, and the song choice was sort of tongue-in-cheek, which is why when the verse talks about "being accustomed to her face," I tried t focus on some of her outlandish and memorable expressions. On the other hand, I watched her shows nearly every night on PBS till "Are You Being Served" became part of my daily routine. I grew accustomed to seeing _all_their faces.
