How did someone who didn't learn to read read enough to be able to get a drivers permit? (the license, I get, because it's a driving test not a written one... but a permit? shouldn't you know to read enough to read traffic rules?)

Or maybe if they're retarded and forgot how to read?

0:56 No checks or $100 bills. Now a full tank of gas is a $100 and rising. Just imagine if a station had you could not use $100 bills today.

I totally remember this show!! I used to watch it all the time when I was a kid. I remembered what it was, just from looking at yoru thumbnail image. "Please pay cashiere before pumping gas", lol. Brings backs some happy memories. I loved watching everything on PBS, back in the 80's.

well, here's the point, what if adults have amnesia and their brain doesn't work as good? then they might have to learn to read.

"Regular"
"Please Pump Gas First"
Those phrases are extinct at every gas station.

@harold3w I WANT THE "LEARN TO READ" DVD SET!!!

Wow, I don't think I've seen a full serve sign at a gas station since the late 90s!
BTW, this is from Learn to Read, a show on PBS produced in the 80s designed for adults struggling with reading problems.

I remembered watching this programme when I was a kid - it usually aired in the mornings around 6a.m. - sometimes on weekends....
There was also a science-themed programme that used to air on WNED-TV back then (WNED-TV also aired "learn to read"), but I couldn't remember what it was....
