A regular stretching regime to keep muscles and tendons supple should be part of a young man's daily routine in order to help prevent the development of contractures. Contractures are a tightening of the muscle and tendons, which limit the full range of movement in a joint. They are inevitable if a regular stretching program is not part of a boy's daily regime. This tightness occurs because not all muscles lose strength at the same time or pace, and boys with DMD develop irregular postures to compensate for this uneven weakness. This CD walks you through different types of stretches for DMD.

@the2009guy: Do you mean the muscular-looking calves? They look that way because there's fat building up there. It's not muscle.

@the2009guy DMD is a progressive neuromuscular condition, mostly seen in boys. Their muscles get weaker and weaker. Most end up in a wheelchair around 12-13 years old, and die of respiratory or heart problems in their 20s.
