The opening of one of my favorite shows as a kid in NY on WWOR channel 9. Such a fun show.

  • I remember Steampipe Alley. Mario Cantone was so funny & I had such a crush on him. What he should do now is try to get Steampipe Alley released on DVD since it made him a star.

  • I think Mario said that WWOR had wiped or thrown out all the master tapes so unfortunately, all that's left of Steampipe Alley is our memories and anyone that is lucky enough to still have shows on tape from television.

  • Steampipe alley sounds like a gay club which is appropriate since it turned out the host was gay.

Sunday mornings on channel 9 in nyc. Wow.

  • One of the best local area shows of my childhood. Nice

  • @MultiSinoda DJ Kat was actually on WNYW Fox 5 on Saturdays, then later Sundays.

  • Dear Skillz, Along with chocolate and other candies.."Steampipe Alley"also gave away packets of "Wyler's"soft drinks and the show fed the kids"Lipton Soups" and

"Good Humor Ice Cream" and "Froz Fruit"pops.

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW I REMEMBER THIS THEN DJ KAT WOULD COME ON NEXT ON WWOR TV

  • I LOVED this show! I was in my late teens/early twenties when we watched this and we would spend our very hungover Saturday mornings watching this. Oh the memories LOL

  • I remember my mom hated this show, which, at the age of 5-6, made me love it more.

  • lol yo this used to be my show back in the day i lived in jersey my pops got us tickets to go to a taping which wasnt too far away , i remember i having fun and they gave every kid a basket full of candy mostly choclate..... good times

  • Man, this is it right here! This is classic WWOR-Channel 9!!! Long before the network went ass corporate and joined up with UPN (now fruity-ass MyNetwork), this is what it was all about for me. 20 years back, Channel 9 meant the Metropolitans (the Mets) in the spring & summer, classic flicks, and watching that nut Mario on good ol' "Steampipe Alley." Yes, yes...getting up early on Sundays, eating Aunt Jemima (pancakes, that is! ;-))...Channel 9 in the good days. WE NEED IT BACK, SON!!!

  • I was on the show once and i saw a kid almost kill himself trying to finish the obstacle course in under 1 minute, he landed face first on the floor from like 7ft up

  • Dear Retroguy,

The heads of WPIX TV Ch.11 are no better..they may do little retrospectives on their news shows honoring their past. But..they'll never rerelease their old tv shows of the past onto dvd for their fans.

  • @143AC channel 9 fails i guess they dont give a fuck about their heritage ch11 is better
