A blocked nose? No. Some people are just puerile.
I assume you're from the West Coast. The accent is flatter. There's no twisting of the vowels and dipthongs or clipping the endings of some words (I'm from southern New England). I have heard that different areas of California will prolong the last syllable of some words. Hearing it clues me in with, "Yup, California."

Nope, I'm from the great lakes. Grew up in a suburb of Detroit. My dad did get a job in Quincy Mass for a while, we lived in Sharon Mass for a few years (6th thru 9th grade). Then we moved back to Michigan, grandparents and everything. Now I live in a suburb of Flint.
