  • @digitalnicko1 The germinating plant will rely on the cotyledons to supply carbohydrates for respiration until the first leaves emerge, at which time photosynthesis will initiate and remain the source of carbohydrates for the duration of the plant's life.

  • @digitalnicko1 This Cell Respiration Lab uses germinating peas seeds and an indicator of cell respiration. The germinating peas are using the seed cotyledons (carbohydrates) and atmospheric oxygen to produce energy molecules for growth and the chemical products carbon dioxide and water.

  • What exactly is germinating? I know only living things can do it.
