I've heard that it is bad to blow out a candle because you are using one element basically "against" another. Apparently some pagans find this taboo. But someone once told me that it doesn't matter what you use to put out the flame, what matters is the INTENT behind it. Since I currently don't own a snuffer, I simply blow out my candle with an intent that is appropriate for whatever I am doing.
However, the clap thing is pretty darn cool.
