Comedian/Host Steve Allen (1921-2000) described his transition from radio into television, working with writing team Madelyn Pugh and Bob Carroll on his prime-time radio show, The Steve Allen Show, and his first television appearance in 1949 as a wrestling announcer for ABC in Los Angeles. He fondly recalled hosting a multitude of Steve Allen Shows for television, and the classic Tonight with Steve Allen, as well as the creation and hosting of PBS' Meeting of Minds.

  • Steve is sorely missed. A true "genius". He gave so much to television. And talk about class. He had it!

  • Has he ever played an owl? He looks like an owl.
