Dragon Gate & USA Indies (et al) Fans vs Puroresu Internet Forum Players
60-min Time Limit; Scheduled for one-fall.

This video was designed to *begin* discussion. Much of what is said is a rough caricature of various opinions - treat it like the strawman it is!

What I want to know from YOU - is where do you see yourselves as fans? Are you a fan of the indies style? How do you appraise matches? Do you think guys like Ibushi, Doi, Richards, Omega, Tyler Black etc. are grossly overrated? Do you feel they are unfairly treated? Is it fair to criticise promotions like ROH, PWG, DGUSA etc as being too heavily focussed on moves, near-fall spamming and spots?

I'm hoping for video responses from these people especially:
- TSlay1974 (because I think he has been exposed to the sorts of fans I mention on both sides)
- DinosaurAvenger1989 (because his indy pimping covers a lot more than just ROH)
- HonorHammer26 (I get the impression that you really like the perennial targets like Marufuji, Richards)

But please, if any of you feel compelled to respond; do so!

Hope you're all well, and with any luck it won't be too long before I make my next video which will be the video with the 2nd-most votes: a response to HonorHammer26 regarding Pro-Wrestling NOAH.

  • Question. what would your thoughts be on KENTA getting another push for the GHC heavyweight title? i love his stuff when he works with the heavyweights.

  • @Sachez112687 My answer to that interesting question is on this video - watch?v=FJOyxBrDmCY

  • Pretty enjoyable video. I really think that this "war" needs to come to an end, and I'm not just talking about the Indy Wrestling & Puroresu fans.

Nowadays, every wrestling fan considers himself as an expert, and thinks that his view on the sport is much better than the others. It's a global problem, in my country, we have a simillar problems.

  • @Electronic91Videos "thinks that his view on the sport is much better than the others" -- totally agreed.

  • Personally I am a fan of everything, because almost every promotion has their own feel and place in the world. Their own style, talent, and way of booking/creating matches.

You build my case further why I tend to be glad that I am not a part of the forums/networks, I tried, but negativity tends to push me away quickly.

Maybe we all should listen to Mutoh Keiji and say "Pro Wrestling Love"!

Just love wrestling for what it is, support local promotions, not living on destructive criticism.

  • @ROHFutureOfWrestling he did have a good match...His match with Samoa Joe was epic

  • @Electronic91Videos Thanks. I love me too! =P

  • @IchibanPuroresu

    I think I love you #LOL

  • @Electronic91Videos I totally agree that you have to work to your audience (both the crowd who are there and the target market for TV/DVDetc) for business reasons. But like with films, 'critics' don't care about how well it does at the 'box office', but how valuable it is as art. Of course that is always going to be subjective; but we can enjoy talking about our opinions on it.

  • Storytelling and psychology are 2 terms which aren't easily understood, may be because having a good match doesn't just consist of 2 guys doing a spotfest, or 2 guys working around "domination" before a huge comeback.

I realized it when I began to wrestle, sometimes a spotfest is just as effective as a logical match, IT DEPENDS ON WHAT THE PUBLIC EXPECTS! Personnally I watch all kinds of Pro-Wres, from WWE to Euro to BattlArts.

Sorry for the poor level of english, I just woke up...

  • @thewrestlingfiend Yes, but to remember specifics here would be impossible. As a general rule, I find it hard to get into authentic lucha; let alone transported lucha. Everything struck me as too exhibitiony. Chains & spots that were creative and what not; but i couldn't sense any fighting edge or catch edge. For guys who are into lucha I'm sure it's great fun; but I come at it from a very different angle and they give me nothing that I like and a whole bunch of stuff that I dont like.
