man makes it look effort less the guys in my gym are mad strong I am having a hard time trying that.

@whotookdonnierules So true, i know u gave this reply years ago, but I totally agree, the ring style clinch if applied on the street is dangerous, trap anyone on a ring style clinch in the street, a smart figter will will have a field day with your nuts, or a little squeeze and twist will do it.
I had good trainers in the past that r exellent in showing ring style techniques, although I had doubts of these techniques would work in the street.
Hopefully I can train with u 1 day!

@duftube001 idk ihave had friends say thing like that when told something contrary to what there used to as well. when ive learned is not to trust that kind of judgement for ones it not objective it based on testimonial evidence(basicly not valid) and these things are relative(they work in context to what they are designed to do)
-
I've never thought of that, i'll have to try that.

@ToraJutsu01 If this is a hybrid style then fair enough people are free to train/teach how ever they like if they enjoy it, just don't call it muay thai when it isn't, i hate it when things are labelled as muay thai when actually they are something different. People beginning muay thai/muay boran may confuse this with the actual thing and end up learning bad techniques.
-
@ToraJutsu01 you're right about the gurad being similarbut almost everything else is different all of his movements are stiff, jumpy, off balance and not fluid; the kicks used in muay boran are not the same, muay boran kicks are more like those used in muay thai today only thrown from a lower stance and with slightly more follow through. Also techniques such as this one here and most of the ones in his other videos do not exist in muay thai/ muay boran there are a few similarities but thats it.
-
@jamesb521 The guard they use is the same, the driving kicks use the same technique, This may be a hybrid, it may be a different approach of teaching it. Regardless of what it is, i can vouch for donnie's techniques, i've added many of them to my rep and they work well.

@ToraJutsu01 Also i do not need to educate myself i understand the history of muay thai and know about muay boran however no LEGITIMATE muay thai/boran/chaiya practitioners have used these techniques they are terrible. Muay boran techniques will look like the mae mai techniques and some of these can be seen in the fighting styles of fighters such as somrack, saenchai and muay keurd cheuk/lethwei fighters none of which look like the techniques in these videos.
-
@ToraJutsu01 No it isnt muay boran and does not resemble muay boran at all there are places in thailand which still practice muay boran and do demonstrations etc also many muay thai gyms in thailand teach the mae muay thai techniques from muay boran which are completely different from anything in these videos. The 'muay boran' shown here is not true muay boran but a gimmick which is marketed by farangs teaching people 'teh d33dlee moo boran 4 teh str33ttz' which has been invented in the west.
i talked about this with my instructor, he sed this idea is complete shit, and that he has broken som1's arm in the clinch with the knee. and that he could easily throw an elbow from clinching som1 or throw them left or right.
well what do you say to that Donnie B?

Understandable duftube. Your instructor has a point, knees can do a lot of damage. And yes, elbows can be thrown from the clinch, so can body shots. And yes, you can control an opponent, even sweep them - all in a ring style context. I've spent the last 15 years training the combat and street defense application of the older styles of muay thai. And I speak from experience, if you get jumped by 2,3, or more guys, the ringstyle clinch can get you in a lot of trouble.
