Jim Pattison, Jimmy to his friends is one of British Columbias wealthiest individuals with a net worth estimated at 7 billion. His reputation is that of a ruthless businessman who would each month fire his car salesman with the least amount of sales, more recently he closed some of his Overwaitea Grocery stores not because they were loosing money but because they were not making enough money.
Jim (Jimmy) showed his softer side when devastating winter storms decimated the trees of Stanley Park in Vancouver by giving more than 1 million dollars to help with the clean up.
To anyone traveling the Okanagan Valley by Vernon, Kelowna, Westbank, Penticton, Oliver and Osoyoos, one of the most visible forms of POLUTTION is the absolutely staggering numbers of billboards that line our highways.
Its disgusting so first people should call companies who use this form of advertising and express their disapproval, with perhaps talk of not supporting those companies and their product (boycott), there should be a concentrated effort at lobbying politicians to restrict and eliminate billboards and finally reach out to MR. Pattison to take an initiative and voluntarily remove the billboards.

  • Blame the land owner for selling the billboard space. Not the people for buying it. idiot.

  • He knows he doesn't have to. He does it because he can. Take action and tell your local government to have them make it illegal to have that many billboards along the road. I remember my first and only time to BC; I couldn't believe the number of signs along BC's roads. It is sad that such a beautiful place is littered with that. Hope it changes soon!

  • You have to realize that the decision is not made by Jim Pattison himself....the sign industry is a fraction of is holdings and it has over a 1000 employees. ... Oh ya....you should blame the urbanisme...not the sign company!!!

  • jimmy made his fortune on the backs of others. he is a worm. former premier glenn clark works for him. ghw bush and he are great friends. glenn sold bc fast ferries to washington group for a fraction of what they were worth!! he owns a huge porn empire, yet says he is reborn. the guy is pure unadulterated scum. frank sinatra is rolling in his grave!! wanna make a diff? boycott the pattison group!

  • fucking hippie go hug a tree

  • Wait a minute, is it the billboards he is bitching about or the smoke that hides the mountains? The billboards were hiding the .......smoke BTW.

I agree the spacing of the billboards was unusually close, yet you might clap that you have business and people are eating. Some parts of the world don't have jobs or billboards.

  • Actually I think its the Indian Reserve that owns the land that is more to blame. Look it up.

  • the bigger question is "Who are the politicians that are letting Jim Pattison do this"????

  • your are an F'n idiot Bjorn....shut up.
