@guero272727 I'm also a long time fan of Mr. Bacharach, but I refer to original Alfie soundtrack where Alfie's theme was composed and played by Sonny Rollins, then after B.B. created the melody.

This cover is simply fantastic, just a total contrast to Sonny Rollins original.
Think its no easy to get this stuff, as its not included within the regular issue of this concert.

This is one of Mehldau's greatest recordings, becauses he lets the song get to him. He doesn't overload it with fancy voicings, complex rhythms or what else he is capable of doing - just a clear, meaningful melody, and a slightly raising intensity that reaches a highly emotional peak. He really respects the tune, and you can hear that throughout the recording.
