On the 31st August 2011, at the age of just 35, Ex NHL enforcer Wade Belak was found dead in Toronto.
He played in 15 NHL seasons whilst also playing a year for the Coventry Blaze in the British Elite League during the 2004-05 season lockout where he won a treble of trophies! Before the playoff weekend in Nottingham, he was quoted to have said "this is the British Stanley Cup!" He wasn't here for his name on the back of his shirt, he cared! He became a Blaze player.
It doesn't matter what team we support, or what colours we wear... in times like this, we are one! And we remember a larger than life character who was loved by many. A family man. A hockey player.
R.I.P. Wade Belak
