It's Good News... And Bad News for Star Trek 2- We'll tell you what is going on Next...

Hey guys I'm Andrea Feczko and you're watching Clevver Movies.

Trekkie fans can't wait for a sequel to the 2009 summer blockbuster smash Star Trek, and it seems the studio is tired of waiting too!

Rumors are swirling around Hollywood that Star Trek 2 is set for June 29, 2012. Great news! Except there is no director, no star and no script! Minor details...

So, What is going on? According to Deadline, everyone is too busy working on other projects! JJ Abrams is expected to sign on to Star Trek 2 only after his new film Super 8 comes out. The three writers won't start writing until Abrams has signed on, and by the way they're also working on other projects. And star Chris Pine is scheduled to shoot another film before Star Trek 2- which is expected to open in 13 months, by the way.

Paramount is not confirming any of this. But it sounds awfully, and I mean, awfully similar to the situation Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen found itself in- no script with a quick release date- and we all know how that turned out.

Hopefully there is such a thing as warp speed for film production.

Is he the only director who can make a star trek film? Star Trek was good but I am sure there are others, give the chance, who can do just as good a job. Hes a good director but not the only one. Im sure others could do a good job if he is busy. Maybe we wont have lens flares every other second too like in star trek. That was just annoying.

Transformers 1 was good, Transformers 2 was crap. So I'd say push aside Transformers and make way for Star Trek.

Peter Weller from Robocop has signed on for Star Trek 2. It has now made the sequel worth waiting for.
