I replaced the lead acid battery with a 4 cell a123 battery pack. This is for my current build, a cm400t cafe bike. Don't mind the messy wires, its still not done yet.

  • Is there no charging circuit or BMS? Its just hooked up like a regular SLA?

  • @ronmann606 Honestly, you can run these cells without one. Of course a BMS or a charging circuit would extend the life of the cells but these a123's have a 10 year life. And I haven't had a problem yet.

  • Where did you buy your A123 cells ????

  • @ensign70000 I pulled them out of a DeWalt 36v pack. They run about $110 and they haven't dropped in price for about 2 years. They come with 10 cells so its about $11 per cell.

But I must warn you to BE CAREFUL when disassembling. I caught fire to the wire insulation accidentally because the pack shorted while I was taking it apart. These cells PACK A PUNCH!
