In 2008, 300 people joined together to celebrate the famous mapmaker David Thompson by paddling 25 foot voyageur-style canoes from Rocky Mountain House in Alberta to Old Fort William near Lake Superior in Ontario.
In 2011, another Brigade of voyageur canoes will continue the community celebrations along the Columbia River as we paddle to the Pacific Ocean as did David Thompson 200 years ago.
