Oil saved large parts of the Los Cerritos Wetlands, the estuary of the San Gabriel River; but now, it's up for destruction.
SoCal rivers are historically seasonal, wild things, often changing course and flooding. The floods of 1938 led to channelizing the San Gabriel and destroying much of the wetlands.
I like your videos. I see destruction of habitat up here in BC Canada and it's terrible. I could perhaps forgive it if they had a positive argument but when it's done just for sheer profit it makes me angry. It's hard to get enough people to appose these sorts of things though because so many people have a stake in it and profit from it (especially governments). No one seems to be able to look past the money figure and see the harm being done.
