I think the buyer should decide whether they will use the flash often - more likely for social do's, then you need a smaller point-and-shoot camera.

however, if you dont really need a flash TOO much, this is a bargain buy still.

It allows you to set the zoom before shooting, but not while shooting. It's a great camera, the image stabilizer works great, even at full telephoto.
