Three DR650 riders take on the KTMs to go where DR650s were never meant to go! Piles of fun, mud, hill climbs, ruts. The clapped out old DR650 got further and faster than any other bike - we reckon its 90% rider skill, 10% bike ability! Chris got over to Aust for this trip and pinched this vid off one of the guys.

  • Awesome video. i don't own a DR but I'm glad I didn't listen to the nay sayers telling me the dr is no good offoad as though it will fall apart on the first trail. I'm a good rider so I have been more worried about the Dr's resilience when being pushed hard offroad but it seems to be able to take a beating quite well:)

  • @marketgooroo

they are heavy but they won't fall apart and are fine for most kinds of moderate dirt riding with the right tires, but you definitely want to fix the suspension if you are going to go hard at anything.

  • This is a great video. Makes me want to buy a DR650 again which was my very first off-road motorcycle. Now i'm an orange rider and the amount of money i've thrown at them is ridiculous. If i kept that very first DR650 i bought in 2004, i'd have a house by now... lol.

  • @yautja898 and you get almost twice the bike with the DR compared to a KTM, at least if you go by the weight

  • for the price we all reckon they are awesome bikes. but our mob think its about 90% rider, 10% bike, so while the DR650 is a heavy old fashioned bike, in the hands of a good rider it will never be far behind katos and the like (in my humble opinion)

  • Nice video. You can tell you guys are having fun and not taking it all too seriously. I ride with a friend who is a DR650 fan. That bike will go anywhere.

  • Sweet video. The old DR650 will surprise a lot of people as to where they can go.

  • A herd of paddle footers and a good rider or two.

  • Did you guys ever try out the the yamaha xt225/serow for this kinda terrain? It unbelievably easy to ride! it has a low seat also and a SOHC 2 valve engine for low down torque which just pulls and pulls and pulls a..... :-P The low seat is great if traction is lost. Really good bike for the trials type of trails.

  • Cool video!
