Wow, you people need to grow the fuck up and stop arguing. My take on this:

1)Kansas was unreal that year. Great team that crushed a great team. I'm a UNC fan and I was pulling for them against Memphis

2)UNC needed to lose like that because they were going to lose at some point in those last two games. This blowout made them come back the next year and steamroll everyone.

3)These are two great programs with great coaches who have respect for each other, so stop bitching at each other.

As a Kansas fan people need to give respect to UNC. They have 5 national titles to our 3. UNC gave Kansas Brown and Roy. Dean played and learned under Dr. Allen at KU and coached UNC to to 2 titles and 800w's. My fanbase (atleast here) likes to act like they are 20x the program that UNC is. Coach Williams is NOT overrated. He can recruit way better in the ACC. This was a great victory and title afterwards. Happiest i've been since 88. Lets hope we can meet UNC again...in the Final Four.

@tomatoface12 NIT is a pretty a big deal to a place like UNC. I give Roy Williams props for what he has done there and hey maybe if you guys win a National Championship every couple of years if it means NIT years, that would be a pretty good tradeoff. If it means guys staying in school for a 4 years even bigger props. I'd definitely pick that over Coach Cal's 1 and done crap at UK.

@bobolob You can't be that naive. Xavier Henry, the Morris brothers, Wayne Simien, etc. All those dudes got paid. It's just how big program college basketball is, don't deny it, just own up to it. Everyone knows anyway.

@bobolob And as for the NIT, well, we sucked that year. But that was 2 years ago. It was a rebuilding year, and rebuilt we have. That's all you have to hang onto. We were really good last year and we're great this year. We will go far into the tourney, that's for sure.

@bobolob That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard anyone say. Everyone remembers 09 just as well as 08. 2009 was one of the best NCAA basketball teams ever. UNC set the record for largest point differential in the NCAA tourney in 09. We weren't even remotely challenged once. We killed Blake Griffin's Oklahoma, we killed Villanova, and we killed Michigan St. You are truly a homer if you even begin to think that no one remembers 2009. I think you'd just like to erase that year from your head.

The irony here that two opponents at rival schools are now playing together. Like I said, a little bit of irony. More of a coincidence of course, but not all on its own...
