Recently cancelled! That point is very sad, but, Well Isn't good music nowadays. Top of the pops was made only for great artists, and today the comercial music is pure trash, im sorry. I miss the classic Top of the Pops.

@MrCriticize Sir: You may not like Tony Blackburn, but there has never been any evidence to suggest that he is a pervert. I might add that, generally speaking, sexual perverts/paedophiles/nonces are physically unprepossessing people. But (as is clear from the archive 'Top of The Pops' footage from '71), Blackburn was anything but physically unprepossessing as a young man; in fact, he was pretty good-looking ...... handsome even. He had no difficulty whasoever in pulling attractive 'birds'.

Was this the first show with the new opening title and theme song? Because it was very sad to see the titles/theme from 1969-'71 go-that was hard to top that. I was looking at the artists that were on the British carts from this point in 1971-and don't get me started on John Lennon: He deserved to die for badmouthing America (as the saying goes 'you mess with a bull, you'll get 'em by the horns). Matter of fact, I don't think that was the Lennon with The Beatles-but the one created by Bob Dylan.
