@sarahgrace172 You have to keep on reading. Read lots, make sure you're reading quality Literature (or whatever it is you're going to be studying later), make notes on what you read, write essays if you so desire! Listen to podcasts or iTunes U broadcasts - lectures from universities, regular academic podcasts, anything that is going to keep your mind engaged intellectually. Gap years can be seriously demotivating though, I agree... Good luck!

I think that college students don't get to know their teachers as well as they should. I know that I haven't, but what a great tip! Building this rapport definitely will help your grades not to mention having a great source for homework help and possibly letters of recommendation! Great vid!

Here is the problem with me: I could read a history book all day or study whatever subject and be totally content...but then I get assigned an essay and I just dread it with all of my being. I feel like, since I already have the ideas in my mind before writing the essay, just figuring out the proper wording and adding footnotes and bibliographies is a pointless task. Maybe this is just me?
