I'm back with another exciting day of work. This week I got to put another cool idea to life, a very cool handle texture that I saw online. Jens Anso and Tashi Bharucha made a few Vitamin A knives with an amazing milled texture that I just had to try out, so I used that as inspiration to design something similar myself. The video shows the whole process of making a set of titanium handles on my little cnc mill. This is the second set of Ti handles that I've made and they turned out much better than the first ones from Week 09. Also it's the first framelock knife I've made, so that was cool. Next week I'll make a few more test blades to confirm tolerances and lockup, then a real blade, some standoffs and barrel nuts. At that point I can assemble it and have a completed working knife!!! So excited, it's been a long, fun and exciting road to get this far.

  • Love the monitor, does that have tubes ;)

  • @Revit7 Heck yeah! It does drive me nuts sometimes, but I'm not about to spend money on a flat screen for the shop computer, unless it's a touch screen which would be nice for this program.

  • That is sick man ! Love your work !

  • @TheGunGarage20 Thanks buddy!

  • really nice job man, i love the texturing, the only thing i am concerned about is that you don't seem to have a belt sander, which you will definately need to do the mating faces of the tang and the lock bar

  • @bobmellon I have a little 1x42 but it's not very nice and I've hardly used it. My goal is to machine the mating faces with tight enough tolerances that they work perfectly, I honestly don't think it'll be a deal. I've got a 7° endmill to do the tang, so it's just a matter of adjusting my code and doing a bunch of test blades until I get the tang mating face in the exact right location. I trust my machining more than my hand grinding anyways. This is an experiment in machining.

  • I've just remembered that the first Norseman's blade looked like a rhino ;) you may call the blade that way ;P

  • Good work John! Looks great. Can't wait to see the finished product

  • That there is sexy!

  • Can't wait until next week... I milled a a Blade Edge out of A2 after; had it hanging out the end of vice so the second side was junk. Will add tabs next time or make a fixture.

  • Can't wait to see it done. That knifes look great good job man
