Zapin is a classical Malay dance rhythm that is widely popular in the state of Johor Darul Ta' Azim, Malaysia. It is believed to have been brought here by the Arab traders in the fourteenth century and over the years, Zapin has been given its own forms and substance by the locals into what it presently is today. It used to be performed exclusively for religious ceremonies but through the years it has become a form of traditional entertainment widely available at weddings, state cultural functions and several other venues. This particular Zapin beat was sung by Datuk M. Daud Kilau, one of Malaysia's evergreen entertainer.
