  • Just what I need to see as I get ready for my checkride. I really like "talking your way down" I think it helps keep my scan going. Keep the videos going....great job!

  • The best advise I can give you for your checkride is to talk, talk and talk on what you feel, see and hear.

The more you talk, the harder it is for your examiner to ask you a question :-))

  • ahh breaking out is such a fulfilling sight.

    great video once again beechsundowner.

a question though, im not familiar with your instrument set up on your aircraft, and i was wondering, is your gps CDI located on your garmin or is it connected to your actual CDI that indicates the VOR and ILS?

what about glideslope indication? or was this a non precision approach you were shootin' and not one of those LNAV/VNAV or LPV approaches.

excuse me please, where i fly, we dont have GPS approaches yet.

  • Thanks for the kind compliments!

On my plane, you can direct the CDI to NAV one if you choose to by pushing GPS / VLOC.

GPS will show the CDI only on the GPS

VLOC will show the CDI on both the GPS and NAV1.

Part of my IFR briefing is to check that setting since GPS setting doesn't work for ILS or LOC approaches.

My GPS is not WAAS capable ($3000.00 upgrade). WAAS will give you lower minimums as that gives you glide slope capability on RNAV approaches.

  • Was that Navajo that departed behind you heading for Tupelo to?

  • Yes. I had a video of him "Schmoking" by me like I was standing still, but I wasn't able to zoom in on him while I was flying. The video, you can't even see him so I didn't include it in this video.

He remained below me until he passed and I got to watch him climb which would have been a great video had I had a good zoom lens!
