  • Ok so Im a "yank" who grew up on Dukes of Hazzard & I am a die-hard Mopar/ american-muscle fan but these little Aussie cars are SICK!!!!!

14.1 quarters in the SEVENTIES???? With a Six??

Thats half a sec slower then the "almighty 4-2-6"! So all u other yanks STFU cuz the aussies have their shit down!!

Research this car & u will have NOTHING to bitch about!!!!!

(Other then the steering being on the "wrong" side!)

  • Both the U.S and Australia have made some pretty good cars through the ages.

  • @dreamcharger01 318s made their way into the VJ Charger, the model after this and the various sedan models. Over a quarter mile, they were several seconds behind. The 318 and 360 Hemi V8s did come here, and were even tested by Chrysler back to back with the E49-spec engines. The 318 can take a lot of abuse, but as a stocker they weren't as quick as a 265 6-pack

  • @ECCCxMECH The big blocks were both a blessing and a curse to Mopar muscle cars in the US. They did go very fast in a straight line, but the sheer weight of the engine adds massive understeer, strains the brakes, and without a massive fuel tank shortens their range dramatically

  • @ECCCxMECH Until you hit a corner. US muscle cars are very fast in a straight line, but lose a hell of a lot of time because of poor brakes and suspension designed to "float" through corners. If you want to go drag racing, yes it would probably win. If you want something that will take on circuit (where the corners go left and right) rally work, or not stop for tyres and fuel every 200 miles, go Australian designed and built. A supercharged 265 can still pull 400hp when done right

  • @xIrish56x If you want to see how they did in racing, look up "Bathurst 1972." Chrysler Australia went under in 1980. If they'd just been a bit better on build quality (hard to find an unrestored Australian Chrysler without any rust) they might still be around today. While modelled on their US cousins, even borrowing parts, they were uniquely Australian

  • @ECCCxMECH Yeah, you just buy our home built cars and rebadge them as pontiacs and r8's ect. Wisen up, idiot. We build half your muscle cars for you.

  • The fastest 6 cyclinder until the Porsche released their 911. Enough said.

  • @xIrish56x Well said. The old 'Australia vs US' arguement really doesn't go down. This isn't even our 'best' muscle car - if you take something like the Holden Torana XU-1, one of the best australian muscle cars ever, it will be able to really give even the legends like Pontiac and Mustang a real run for their money. The Charger is up there amongst the greats.

  • I would rather have that E49 than the hottest wife haha

  • @AusBeatle them stupid yanks got hold of the 256 hemi engine blue prints from the 70s and used it in there late 90s jeeps look at the engine in a jeep and tell me thats not a hemi ? with alloy head and FI

  • but the hole project was canned after the super car scare , started by mr green , so the engines 340s found there way into chargers code name E55 with single 4 barrel carbi , large valve heads hilif cam

same engine code used on a factory 340 T/A CUDA

also install 360ci v8 motors as well as 318ci v8.in these chargers
